What We Believe

What We Believe…

…about God

We believe in a triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (3 persons in one being—Father, Son,  and Spirit)

Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:18-20, John 14:9-10
We believe that God is the Creator of man and all things.
  • Men & women did not evolve from a lower form of life.
  • Our world is not a product of evolution, but the product of a divine Creator who spoke creation into being.
Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:26, Acts 17:24-28

…about Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, Savior of the world, was fully God in the flesh.
  • He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
Luke 1:34
  • He is not a created being.
John 3:16 & John 1:1
  • He was both fully human and fully divine.
John 1:14 & Colossians 2:9
  • He lived a sinless and perfect life.
Hebrews 4:15
  • He died and was buried, and He rose again bodily from the dead on the third day.
Luke 23:46, Luke 23:53, & Luke 24:39
  • He ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.
Colossians 3:1
  • He will bodily return to earth to judge both the living and the dead. All the dead will be resurrected-the believer to everlasting joy with the Lord-the unbeliever to everlasting punishment.
Acts 1:11, 2 Thes 1:9, 1 Peter 4:5, 2 Pet 2:4-9, and Rev 20:15

…about the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who was sent by Christ and personally indwells everyone who becomes a Christian.
  • He provides us with comfort, guidance, and the ability to understand the Word.
  • He intercedes for us in our prayers and provides the motivation and ability to work for God’s pleasure.
  • He also convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
John 14:16-17, John 16:5-11, Romans 8:26-27

…about the Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God in its original form.
  • The events and miracles recorded in the Bible literally happened.
  • The Bible is our final authority for all matters of faith and practice.
  • The purpose of Scripture is to teach us about God, to lead us to faith in Christ, and to reveal God’s will for our lives.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12-13

…about man

We believe that man, created by God willfully sinned. As a result, man is separated from a relationship with God when he chooses to disobey.

Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23

…about salvation

We believe that salvation and forgiveness of sins comes by grace through faith in Christ.
  • We are not saved by works.
  • The blood of Jesus’ sacrifice cleanses us from sin.
  • Salvation is a free gift from God.
  • Christ’s work on the cross is finished.
  • Death seals the eternal destiny of each person.
Romans 3:22-23, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 5:8-11, 1 John 1:7, 1 Peter 3:18 (NASB), & John 6:47

We believe that the Bible teaches that one receives God’s grace by
  • putting faith in Christ,
  • repenting of sin,
  • confessing Christ,
  • being immersed (baptized) into Christ,
  • and living a life devoted to Christ,
  • but that none of these is sufficient in and of itself for the assurance of salvation.
We believe that salvation is complete and enduring.
  • God promised His gift of salvation to be final and insured that Satan could not take it away.
  • God did not take away man’s free will at the point of salvation.
  • By responding and accepting God’s free gift of salvation, according to what He has outlined in the New Testament, we can have assurance of salvation.
John 3:18, Acts 3:19, Romans 10:9-10, Matthew 10:32, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:27, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Mark 12:30-31, Luke 9:23,& I Jn 5.13

…about the church

We believe that we have been charged by Jesus Christ with a Great Commission to make disciples in a lost and dying world.

Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of Christians all around the world.

Matthew 16:13-18, Ephesians 5:23, Acts 2:41-47
We believe that the Bible teaches that the Elders are to lead the local church according to the pattern of the New Testament.

Acts 20:28

We practice the ordinance of baptism by immersion in accordance with the example of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 3:15-17

We practice the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper on a weekly basis. We believe that Christ instituted this ordinance to remember His sacrifice. We believe that the opportunity to participate in this ordinance is an expression of God’s love for His children.

Luke 22:17-20, Matthew 26:26-28, Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-28

We believe in the unity of believers based on the authority of Christ and God’s Holy Scriptures.

Ephesians 4:1-5

We believe the church falls under the lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible.
Colossians 1:18, Philippians 1:1
